SUBJECT: Don Karstens, Part time Street/Park Employee
This past May, we hired Don as a part time summer worker for $8.69 per hour. Don is
semi. retired and has a background in auto mechanics, building maintenance, carpentry,
painting and many other skills that we are yet to realize.
I would like to make use of his skills completJn~ the interior finishing in the Trott Brook
barn instead of contracting that work out. For the Ion~ term, I would like to have Don
become ~ part time, working an average of 32 hours per week for 9 months
per year, with a pay increase Immediately.
Recommendation:
To increase Don's wages from Pay Grade I, Step A ($8.69 per hour) to Pay Grade 2,
(laborer rate) Step C or $ I 1.08 per hour with a41~ part time status.
