SUBJECT: Review of Three-month Orientation
Period for Office Service Worker
INTRODUCTION:
On July 24, 1995, the Council authorized the City to hire Joni Pearson for
the position of Office Service Worker. As indicated on the attached excerpt
from the July 17, 1995, City Council minutes, Joni was hired at $7.40 per
hour with the possibility of moving to the next step on the pay scale pending
• successful completion of the three-month orientation period and council
approval. Moving to the next step would mean increasing her current pay of
$ 7.40 per hour to $ 7.76 per hour.
Some of the duties of office service worker include back-up receptionist; back-
up to the building clerk; typist; copying and putting together meeting
packets; and filing. During the three months that Joni has worked for the
City she has proven to be very efficient and reliable.
It is my opinion that Joni Pearson has successfully completed her orientation
period and will continue to be a valuable asset to the city staff.
ACTION RECOMMENDED:
Based on job performance during the past three months, I recommend that
the Council authorize an increase in pay for Joni Pearson from $7.40 per
hour to $7.76 per hour, (moving from Step A to Step B under Pay Grade 4),
effective October 24, 1995.

is recommending the Council authorize the hiring of
Joni Pearson.
COUNCILMEMBER DIETZ MOVED TO HIRE JONI PEARSON FOR THE
POSITION OF OFFICE SERVICE WORKER AT FOUR AND ONE-HALF
HOURS PER DAY TO BEGIN JULY 24, 1995, AT $7.40 PER HOUR
WITH A RECOMMENDATION TO MOVE TO THE NEXT STEP, WHICH
IS $7.76 PER HOUR, FOLLOWING SUCCESSFUL COMPLETION OF A
THREE MONTH ORIENTATION PERIOD AND CITY COUNCIL
APPROVAL. COUNCILMEMBER HOLMGREN SECONDED THE MOTION.
THE MOTION CARRIED 5-0.
