SUBJECT: Meeting Schedule
We need to begin looking at our November-February meeting schedule in
order to plan for public hearings and special meetings. Everyone should
bring their calendar to this Council meeting so that we can avoid setting up
meetings where Councilmembers cannot be present.. Attached for your
review is a copy of the November, December, January and February months.
To begin with Planning public hearings, it is staff's preference to have a
special Council meeting held on the Tuesday following the January and
February holidays. This special meeting will then eliminate the intense
work load with putting together two large (City Council and Planning
Commission) packets in a short week. However, if we hold our CIP
worksessions on the holidays in January and February, which has been our
• past practice, then the Council will be meeting two nights in a row. In this
regard, it maybe to our benefit to hold our CIP worksession(s) on a Saturday
later in the winter season. By doing this we will also have more accurate
financial information available as the audit is anticipated to be done, at least
in draft form, earlier in the year than what we have experienced in past
years.
Additional topics for special meetings, or topics that may take up a great deal
of one meeting include the following:

Public hearing to consider Park and Recreation Master Plan
Public hearing to consider Long Range Transportation Plan
Public hearing to consider adoption of revised city zoning map
Joint meeting with the Utilities Commission (3 per year)
Joint meeting with the School Board
Joint meeting with the County Commissioners
Interviews for vacancies on Boards and Commissions
Volunteer Appreciation Dinner evening
Public hearing on east Elk River trunk sewer and water project
Capital Improvement Program meetings
Joint meeting with the Planning Commission
Joint meeting with the Park and Recreation Commission
