Action Requested
Council approval of retail fireworks licenses for Aldi Foods and Wal-Mart in Elk River. The licenses are
valid for one year. The Fire Marshal has asked that all retail firework licenses be approved with the
following two conditions:
1. TWO (2) FIRE EXTINGUISHERS MUST BE PLACED NEAR THE AREA OF THE
FIREWORKS DISPLAY. ONE (1) EXTINGUISHER MUST BE A WATER-BASED
PRESSURIZED EXTINGUISHER.
2. APPLICANT MUST CONTACT THE FIRE DEPARTMENT AT 763.635.1110 AFTER
THE FIREWORKS DISPLAY IS SET UP FOR AN INSPECTION.
Background/Discussion
Aldi Foods is requesting a new retail fireworks license to sell fireworks inside their store. Wal-Mart is
requesting renewal of their current license. The applicants have submitted all the necessary application
materials.
