Action Requested
The Elk River Fire Department is seeking approval to accept a grant from CenterPoint Energy in the
amount of $2,300. The grant will be used to purchase new multi-gas meters.
Background/Discussion
On March 31, 2010, the Elk River Fire Department applied for a Community Partnership Grant through
CenterPoint Energy to purchase new multi-gas meters. These meters allow firefighters to monitor the
presence of toxic gases including carbon monoxide, hydrogen sulfide, and explosive levels. The meters
are also capable of measuring the oxygen level in the air.
The department requested $2,300 in funding and was notified on May 3, 2010 that the City will receive
the full amount.
Representatives from CenterPoint Energy will be in attendance to present a check to the City for $2,300.
Financial Impact
This is a matching contribution grant award. The City will be responsible for contributing $2,300 for the
purchase of the equipment. The City's cost share will be funded through the Capital Outlay Reserve
Fund.
