Perennial Plant Sale
Sara Hopko, a third-year summer employee whose job description has been "Fields and
Flowers," put forth extra efforts that I felt are worth recognizing.
Sara's summer job includes maintaining the softball/baseball fields and care for the City's
flowerbeds. This fall she came up with an idea for a perennial plant sale. It seems that
several of the flower beds have matured to the point that the plants needed to be divided to
remain healthy.
Sara dug the plants, split and potted them, and even handled the sale on August 24 and 25.
Her efforts netted $737.00, which will be designated for future flower purchases at Sara's
request.
Sara is an excellent employee whom we all enjoy having on our staff, but I felt that this
project was well beyond her normal job duties and something that should be brought to
your attention.
