SUBJECT: Major Park Use -Use of Lions Park fora 4a' of July Event
Re uest
The Elk River American Legion has requested the use of Lions Park on Sunday, July 4'" to
hold a community 4~' of July celebration event. The rental period would run from noon -
11:00 p.m. with the actual event time being held in the evening. The group plans to hold a
concert in the Lions Park Bandshell and then shoot of fireworks from the High School
stadium field. They expect approximately 3,000 people to attend the event.
Information for your consideration
• This is a resident group.
• This request will also be routed through the city special event pemut request process
to address additional issues such as police presence and street logistics.
Staff Recommendations
• All facility rental fees be waived.
The Parks and Recreation Department provide trash cans for the event.
The group will be required to provide additional portable toilets at the groups'
expense as needed.
