1. Call Meeting To Order
Pursuant to due call and notice thereof, the meeting of the Elk River Public Library Board was
called to order at 6:30 p.m. by Chair Dietz.
2. New Business/Landscape
2.1. Sprinkler System
We currently have 9 zones and that covers 60% of our area. We need to add 7 zones in
order to cover all areas, to include the irrigation needed along Orono Pkwy. Will take
approximately 2 weeks on install and cost approximately $300 x 7 zones =$2100. Oux other
option would be to install tree tubs for trees that are in areas not reached by the sprinkler
system. $27 per tub x 29 =$836. The tree tubs would require additional upkeep from the
Park & Rec. Dept. and not solve the area not covered by the current system along Orono
Pkwy.

THE PARK & REC. DEPT. OBTAINING A QUOTE FROM GREAT NORTHERN
LANDSCAPE TO INSTALL THE ADDITIONAL ZONES. MOTION CARRIED 5-0.
2.2. Mulch
To completely do all the areas in need $45 x 14 yards=$630. To fill in only the low areas
would be $405. $2,000 is budgeted, so we are doing all the areas, no vote is needed.

4. Consider Minutes of March 23.2010 Library Board Meeting
MOVED BY JAYNE DIETZ AND SECONDED BY MIKE HANGAARD TO APPROVE
THE MARCH 23, 2010 LIBRARY BOARD MEETING MINUTES. MOTION CARRIED
5-0.
5. Consider Treasure's Report as of Apri127 2010 I ibrary Board Meeting
5.1. Fireplace
Mick will look into the $355 charge for a new contractor that came in to look at the
fireplace. The Board would like to know where that money is coming from; there is no
budget fox it.

THE TREASURER'S REPORT AS OF THE APRIL 27, 2010 LIBRARY BOARD
MEETING. MOTION CARRIED 5-0.
6. Librarian's Report -Mick Stoffers
6.1. Contact List
Mick passed out a new contact list fox Board Members.
6.2. Cleaning Crew
Carlson Building Services is the General Contractor; they hire a service to do the cleaning.
Carlson comes out to visit the site every month and rates the service that they performed.
The expense is the same as the last company.
6.3. LED parking lot lights
The Utilities Department was looking into using the Library as a test project.
Mick voiced a concern that the lights do not get hot enough to melt the snow that forms
to the bulb. This issue will be looked into.
6.4. Community Room Policy
It states in the policy that there should be no exchange of money. This then means Sport,
Girl Scout, etc. registration is not allowed. The Board would like this issue to be brought to
the City Council and have the City Lawyer look into it; Mick will talk to Nick Zerwas.
You can now reserve the Community Room online through the website.

6.5 Misc.
A Novelist database has been added to the City's website.

May 25, 2010
