Background/Discussion Over twenty five applications were received for the city engineer position and five candidates were selected for interviews. Participating in the interviews were Jeremy Barnhart, Jeff Beahen, Tim Simon, Sherburne County Public Works Director John Mentor, and me. Following interviews and background checks, we are pleased to recommend Justin Femrite for the position. Mr. Femrite is an Elk River resident; in fact, before this position was even advertised, he attended several City Council meetings earlier this year. He is currently employed by Bolton and Menk in the Ramsey office and is working on our 2010 Overlay Improvement Project. He has worked in several cities serving as a consulting city engineer, assistant engineer and project manager. Financial Impact This cost of this staff position will supplant current consulting city engineering charges. The majority of the cost of this position will be funded as it presently is through project, storm water, and enterprise funds with an estimated quarter of the cost being charged to the general fund engineering budget.
