We were able to open the ice rinks mid-December and had beautiful ice until just before the
holidays. There is still a lot of sledding going on and the Parks staff will be working to rebuild the
ice as weather permits. This year we are providing tubes for people to check out as an added
service.
I have started working on a SCORP grant for Hillside Park and will be bringing the information to
the commission in February for your review.
December Programs
Programs offered in December include Yoga, Yogilates, 50/50 Cross Training, Kickboxing Circuit,
open gyms, Girl Power, Girls' Night Out, BLAST, Winter Wonderland, Parent and Tot Tumbling,
Preschool Tumbling, Parent and Tot Open Playtime, Eager Elks Soccer, Eager Elks Sports Sampler,
Kids Cardio, Adult Volleyball, Intramural Basketball, 3 on 3 Basketball Tournament, and Skating
Academy.
Special Marketing Efforts
We have purchased new software for our internal electronic bulletin board and are working to get
staff trained and get this up and n,nning. The bulletin board will be used to market upcoming
events, welcome groups who are using the facility, etc.
Facility Use
We reserved 115 hours of indoor facility use, 4 hours of hockey ririlt use, 24 hours of park shelter
use and 24 hours of trails use.
The remodeling is complete at Emporium/Program Facility and has really improved the facility. We
are running programs in there currently on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday evenings; as well as
Thursday days on a regular basis. We will also be moving our babysitting classes and the Girl Power
events there which both take place on Friday nights. We have added classes on Saturday mornings
beginning in January and will continue to look for programming opporuutities to hold at the
Program Facility.

We provided First Aid and CPR training for 16 staff members from the Arena. This is a great in
house service to be able to provide for city staff. It allows us flexibility in scheduling and keeps in
affordable for departments.

Typically we do not do many tours in Jan and Feb. Cancellations from weather is too
high.
The meeting with Monticello to plan 2006 tours was delayed to 1-11-06.
Co-sponsoring a winter Travelogue Series with Community Ed. 7 sessions. Sue is the
first presenter on Mongolia.
Senior Dining just asked us to co-sponsor their Luau on 1-25. In the past we have
cosponsored many events that were successful. Last year we did very little because of
the communication issues we were experiencing. They came to us yesterday and needed
our help. We agreed to step in. The only problem is that it has not been advertised as a
cosponsored event. As a goodwill gesture we will step in and help in whatever way we
can.
