SUBJECT: Community Events: Summer Weekend Games
Staff is developing a new event that would highlight the many parks and recreation
opportunities in Elk River. This event would involve multiple races and tournaments, all
held on one weekend in the summer. Each sports association would organize the
individual events, and Pazks and Recreation staff would coordinate registration and
facility reservations.
Examples of events are:
• Mountain bike race at Hillside Pazk
• Cross country race at Top of the World Trail
• BMX race at the Youth Athletic Complex BMX Track
• SK race along Main Street and Orono Parkway
• Canoe or Kayak races on Mississippi River
• Softball Tournament
• Roller Ski race at Woodland Trails
Staff has begun contacting sports associations and initial response has been enthusiastic.
Any group interested in organizing an event can contact Pazks and Recreation staff at
Lions Park Center.
