Hot Topic) of the Month
We are full swing into summer programming. We are excited to bring back many of our
favorites as well as looking to add some new opportutties. We will be adding dog
obedience classes, more youth opportunities, and looking for ways to serve our growing teen
population at Lions Park. We are also meeting with the Boys and Girls Club to talk about
possible partnership opportunities.
January Programs
Open Gyms, Weight Loss Success workshops, Girl Power, Parent and Tot Tumbling,
Preschool Tumbling, Parent and Tot Open Playtime, Eager Elks Tumbling, Warming
House, 6-8`h grade trips, Dodgeball Tournament, Skate Races, Cheer America, Young
Americans Self Defense, adult fitness classes, and Skating Academy.
Special Marketing Efforts
The internal bulletin board is up and running. It will be used both as a marketing tool and to
greet the patrons of Lions Park Center. We are also putting an ad in the Star News to let
people know that our guide is available each session.
Facility Use
We reserved 140 hours of facility use in January. 75 hours was indoor facility use, 17 hours
was hockey rinks, and the remainder was for miscellaneous park and trail use.
Warming House/Ice Rinks
We have been open through January 27`'' most days. Due to the warm weather, we are
currently closed and are not scheduled to reopen at this time. If weather permits, this would
be re-evaluated.

Hot Topic(s) of the Month
A large sum of cash was found by a volunteer in a fabric donation. Called police. They
will hold it for 90 days and then the City Administrator will decide what happens to it if
no one identifies it. She and I have talked about the situation. The volunteer seems a
little disgruntled the way it was handled.
Luau co-sponsored with Senior Dining on 1-25, # 164 attended. Went very well.
Moral has been very improved with Senior Dining, it's like working at a new place!
Free Income Taxis starting from Feb to April.
The Author Talk with ERAAA on 1-11-06 was great. Over 60 people in attendance.
Cribbage tournament held on 1-30-06.
A physician, a speaker, from the MN Stroke Association will speak here on 2-23. This is
the Healthy Living program for Feb. Usually attendance is very high when we can get a
physician to be the presenter.
A Saturday event with lunch and music is planned for 2-25. This event is being co-
sponsored with Faith In Action. This program is replacing Cabin Fever.
Dan Dixon said that we could have a sign on the lawn stating Senior Center /Elk river
Park and Rec place in front of the large pine tree.
Working on an event called "Red Hat March Madness" An Elvis Show & Dinner inviting
area Red Hat Groups 3-9-06. The Elk River and Monticello Senior Centers are planning
extra events and tours for Red Hatters this year.
