PROCLAMATION
WALK OF HOPE DAY
OCTOBER 29, 2001
Item ~ 4.4.
WHEREAS, Norman Ball, a 58 year-old grandfather of five is undertaking an epic walking
journey of approximately 8,500 miles; and
WHEREAS, Norman's cause is to rescue severely at-risk children living in the streets,
sewers, and garbage dumps of most major cities of the world; and
WHEREAS, these children suffer from deprivation, neglect, abuse, murder and worse; and
WHEREAS,
through fundraising efforts of considerate and caring people like Norman
Ball and his support team, many young lives will realize a difference in the
world; and
WHEREAS,
on October 29, 2001, Norman Ball will celebrate the completion of almost
4,000 miles of his "Walk of Hope" journey as he enters the City of Elk River;
and
WHEREAS, the City of Elk River is honored to be a part of this effort as Norman Ball
travels through Elk River.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that I, Mayor Stephanie A. Klinzing, hereby
proclaim: October 29, 2001, as "Walk of Hope" Day in Elk River.
