Proclamation for National Night Out
Attached is a proclamation for National Night Out 2003. Over the past 9 years we have had
successful National Night Outs. This year we are competing for National recognition and a
proclamation is required to show city support. If you have any questions please feel free to

Whereas, the National Association of Town Watch(NATW) is
sponsoring a unique, nationwide crime, drug and violence prevention
program on August 5, 2003 entitled "National Night Out"; and
Whereas, the "20th Annual National Night Out" provides a unique
oppommity for Elk River to join forces with thousands of other communities
across the country in promoting cooperative, police-community crime
prevention efforts; and
Whereas, the Elk River City Council plays a vital role in assisting the
Elk River Police Department through joint crime, drug and violence
prevention efforts in Elk River and is supporting "National Night Out 2003"
locally; and
Whereas, it is essential that all citizens of Elk River be aware of the
importance of crime prevention programs and impact that their participation
can have on reducing crime, drags and violence in Elk River; and
Whereas, police-community partnerships, neighborhood safety,
awareness and cooperation are important themes of the "National Night
Out" program;
Now, therefore We, Mayor and City Council, do hereby call upon all
citizens of Elk River to join the Elk River Police Department and the
National Association of Town Watch in supporting the "20th Annual
National Night Out" onAugust 5, 2003.
Further, let it be resolved that we, Mayor and Council, do hereby
proclaim Tuesday, August 5, 2003 as "National Night Out" in Elk River.
