Council motion proclaiming September 17 - 23, 2010 as Constitution Week.
BACKGROUND/DISCUSSION
The Daughters of The American Revolution (DAR), Anoka Chapter, has requested that the City of Elk
River proclaim September 17 - 23, 2010, as Constitution Week. The Anoka Chapter of DAR has received
the support of the State of Minnesota and 100% of Anoka County Communities as well as some Ramsey
and Washington County communities. They are hoping to add Sherburne County to the supporting areas
for their chapter.

PROCLAMATION
PROCLAIMING SEPTEMBER 17 - 23, 2010
AS CONSTITUTION WEEK
WHEREAS, our Founding Fathers, in order to secure the blessings of liberty for
themselves and their posterity, did ordain and establish a Constitution fox the United States;
and,
WHEREAS, it is important that all citizens fully understand the provisions and principles
contained in the Constitution in order to effectively support, preserve, and defend against all
enemies; and,
WHEREAS, September 17, 2010, marks the two hundred twenty-third anniversary of the
drafting of the Constitution of the United States of America by the Constitutional
Convention; and,
WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper to accord official recognition of this magnificent
document and its memorable anniversary; and,
WHEREAS, the independence guaranteed to American citizens, whether by birth or
naturalization, should be celebrated during Constitution Week, September 17 through 23,
2010, as designated by proclamation of the President of the United States of America in
accordance with Public Law 915;
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that I, Stephanie Klinzing, Mayor of the City
of Elk River, do hereby proclaim the week of September 17 through 23, 2010 as
CONSTITUTION WEEK
