Call Meeting to Order
Pursuant to due call and notice thereof, the meeting of the Elk River Public Library Board was
called to order at 6:30 p.m. by Board Chair John Dietz.
2. Consider Julv 27, 2010 Library Board Agenda.
MIKE HANGAARD MOTIONED AND JAYNE DIETZ SECONDED TO APPROVE
THE AGENDA AS PRESENTED. MOTION PASSED 4-0.
3. Consider Minutes of June 22, 2010 Librarv Board Meeting.
WILL BE APPROVED AT THE AUGUST MEETING DUE TO MILK NOT
RECEIVING THEM. MIKE HANGAARD MOTIONED AND JAYNE DIETZ
SECONDED TO APPROVE. MOTION PASSED 4-0.
4. Consider July 27, 2010 Treasurer's Report.
WILL BE APPROVED AT THE AUGUST MEETING DUE TO BOARD MEMBERS
NOT RECEIVING THE REPORT. MIKE HANGAARD MOTIONED AND JAYNE
DIETZ SECONDED TO APPROVE. MOTION PASSED 4-0.
Librarian's Report -Mick Stoffers
5.1. Budget Items
Sprinkler System or Prairie Grass Restoration: For full restoration $5,000. To do
it average $3,500 and to maintain it $1,200. It was agreed to replace the prairie
grass with regular grass and complete the sprinkler system.
MIKE HANGAARD MOTIONED AND JAYNE DIETZ SECONDED TO APPROVE.
MOTION PASSED 4-0.
5.2. Shelvine & Chairs out of 2010 Budget
The shelving budget is $600 and actual is $725. Mick is going to ask "The Friends
of the Library" to make up the difference & help pay for the chairs in the
Children's Cave.
5.3. Microfilm Reader Printer
The bulb will be replaced first if the printer still is not working then they will use
the $500 approved by the board at the June Meeting for further repairs.
5.4. GRRL Restructure
Branch assistants in Elk River were cut by 17%. The Elk River Branch Manager
position was cut from 40 to 36.5 hours. There will possibly be an increase in
Aides. They are waiting for the Union Contract to be negotiated.
6. New Business
6.1. Book Donation
Jayne Dietz presented the Elk River Library a copy of the book
"Culturally Speaking" written by her friend Mary Coons.
6.2. Remote book drop
Mike Hangaard relayed comments from residents who would like to see
a remote book drop at Lyon's Park or the old Library building.
Adjournment
There being no further business, the meeting adjourned at 6:50 p.m. Next meeting will be
held on August 24, 2010.
