SUBJECT: Firefighters Supporting Cancer Awareness
Recently, the Minnesota State Fire Department Association adopted a proclamation that
encourages fire departments to support cancer education, awareness, and research by
wearing pink. For three days, our personnel will be encouraged to support this cause by
wearing pink shirts that reflect the motto "caring enough to wear pink." The shirts axe being
purchased with support from the Elk River Fire and Ambulance Service.
This is a national campaign that many fire departments support. The official educational
campaign will be held on October 25, 26, and 27, 2010. The goal of this event is to help
educate our community about cancer and to instill courage to those who worry about being
alone in a battle for life.
Attached is a copy of the proclamation that was published in the September, 2010 edition of
"Smoke Eater," a publication of the Minnesota State Fire Department Association.
