5.4. SR 01-21-1997'~ity of 'ver FROM: DATE: SUBJECT: MEMORANDUM Mayor and City Council Cliff Skogstad, Building Official January 9, 1997 Out of State Conference On March 3-7, 1997, the Colorado Chapter Educational Institute will be hosting a continuing education conference. This is the same conference I attended last year and have found it to be very beneficial throughout the year with the types of classroom activity they provided. Provided for you with this memo is a copy of the outline of this conference. As you review this information please note the large selection of course work material provided with this conference. The classes I have selected will be dealing with advanced occupancies, advanced types of construction, and advanced means of egress. This type of "hands-on" classroom activity assists me as a building official for the City of Elk River in performing by duties. In addition, it provides credits for my continuing education of all my licenses through the International Conference of Building Officials and also the State of Minnesota licenses as a building official. Therefore, at this time I am asking the City Council for approval to attend this conference. The cost will be approximately $1,100. This amount was an approved budget item for this year listed under out of state conferences. If you need any further information, please call me at 441-4903. RECOMMENDATION Council motion authorizing building official to attend the Colorado Chapter Educational Institute. s:Xb &zXcliffXcolorado.doc 13065 Orono Parkway · P.O.
