Elk River Chamber takes the lead in safety efforts
In response to concern for the safety of area residents, the Elk River Area Chamber of Commerce
has formed the Highway 169 Task Force. Comprised of volunteers from the business community,
the task force will mobilize citizen support for construction of a fence along Highway 169.
The Highway 169 Task Force will develop and implemznt a plan to generate funding for the
incremental step of fencing 1.25 miles of Highway 169 between Main Street and 193rd Avenue.
The task force, working in cooperation with the City of Elk River, will also be assessing other
recommendations, in addition to fencing.
Chair of the task force Jerry Hagen, Sax Food & Drug, is asking for public involvement in the
process. "There's safety in numbers - the more people helping, the more we'll achieve.
Churches, organizations, and schools are all invited to join us."
Interested citizens can contact the chamber at 441-3110 or lerry Hagen at 441-1400.
