Request
Jim Schroer, Plant Place Inc., is requesting a general planning permit for a
temporary greenhouse/garden center in the Sax Foods parking lot.

Overview
Plant Place Inc. is requesting a permit to locate a temporary greenhouse in
the Sax Food parking lot. Plant Place will be selling bedding plants and
nursery stock from April 15, 1997 through July 1, 1997. The proposed hours
of operation are Monday through Saturday 9:00 am to 7:00 p.m. and Sunday
10:00 am to 6:00 p.m. They will be using a 20' X 80' temporary greenhouse for
bedding plants and an adjacent area 20' X 60' for nursery stock. The total
area for the garden center operation is 2800 square feet.

The proposed location for the greenhouse is near the southwest corner of the
parking lot along Evans Street. The location is out of the main flow of traffic
and will take up about 20 parking spaces.
Plant Place Inc. has conducted their greenhouse business from this location
for the past 2 years without any complaints and there have no reports of any
problems associated with their operation.
Recommendation
Staff is recommends approval of Plant Place Inc.'s request for a general
planning permit to allow a temporary greenhouse/garden center at the Sax
Food parking lot with the following conditions:
If traffic becomes a problem around the site, the sales area should be
delineated with some type of barrier to restrict traffic.

The greenhouse/garden center must be kept in good condition
throughout the time it is in place.
3. The location of the greenhouse will be consistent with the site plan.
o
The greenhouse and display area shall be removed within I week of
the end of sales and the site be returned to its original condition.

The Plant Place, Inc. is applying for a permit to sell bedding plants and
nursery, stock. We will be open from approximately April 15th until
July. 1st, 1997 and our hours of operation will be 9:00 am to 7:00 pm,
Monday through Saturday, 10:00 am to 6:00 pm on Sunday. We will
set up a temporaD' greenhouse structure that is 20' wide by 80' long and
also use an adjacem area that is 20' wide by 60' long.
