Subject: Fitness Equipment & Fitness Room Usage
Dear Mayor Duitsman and Council:
As a Certified Fitness Instructor for the City of Elk River, it
is my position to periodically speak with the employees
concerning fitness room equipment and usage.
Based on my conversations with several of these individuals, it
has been brought to my attention that some of the employees are
finding it difficult to gain access to some of the equipment when
they are attempting to work out.
As you are aware, the fitness room is starting to be used more
frequently by more and more employees. Although this is a good
sign that employees are becoming more health conscious, it has
also created a problem with availability of equipment.
In an attempt to rectify this situation, I have attained quotes
for additional pieces of equipment. At this time, .I am
recommending to the Council that the City purchase an additional
treadmill, which would give us a total of two in the fitness
room. This purchase would solve several problems, one being
availability during peak hours and also, with the addition of a
second treadmill, it would reduce the usage of the one that we
already have, therefore, keeping breakdowns to a minimum and
enabling the treadmill to last longer.
I would also recommend to the Council that a periodic review of
