SUBJECT: Authorization of Bid Award for
Purchase of Sludge Hauling Equipment
At the January 27, 1997, City Council meeting, the Elk River City Council
authorized advertisement for bids for a front wheel assist tractor and liquid
manure spreader.

Recommendation
It is my recommendation that the City Council authorize the purchase of the
New Holland (Ford) Tractor, Model 8770 for $75,828.00 from Trueman
Welters, Inc. This tractor does meet our specifications without exception.
It is also my recommendation that the City Council authorize the purchase of
the Husky, Model E, Liquid Manure Spreader from Malecha Sales for
$26,551.52. Although they were not the low bidder, they were the only
bidder that meets our specifications. The Model E will provide more features
on the trailer such as a larger tank, larger and better tires, and lights.
