SUBJECT: Parks and Recreation Director Position Update
Unfortunately, Michelle Olson who was selected as our next Parks and Recreation Director
has regretfully informed me that she must decline to accept the position due to an
unexpected personal situation that came up after the interviews. She stated that she was
impressed with City staff and felt that she would work well with us. Likewise, staff was
looking forward to working with Ms. Olson. She expressed her thanks to the staff and
Council for their time and the effort put forth during the interview process.
At Monday's meeting, I would like to discuss how to proceed with this position. As you
know, the division managers have functioned very well these past few months. They are
very capable of providing excellent service to our residents and will continue to do so even
in the absence of a director while we determine how to move forward.
