Call Meeting To Oxdex
Pursuant to due call and notice thereof, the meeting of the Elk River Parks and
Recreation Commission was called to order at 6:30 p.m. by Chair Anderson.
2. Consider August 11 2010 Parks & Recreation Commission Agenda
Recreation Manager, Steve Benoit added the topic, to Item 6.

& RECREATION COMMISSION AGENDA. CARRIED 5-0.
3. Consider Minutes of Julv 14. 2010 Parks & Recreation Commission Meeting

COMMISSIONER JAKER TO APPROVE THE JULY 14, 2010 PARKS AND
RECREATION COMMISSION MEETING MINUTES. MOTION
CARRIED 5-0.
4. Open Mike -None
5. Volunteer of the Month
Recreation Manager, Steve Benoit recognized Paul Kimbler as this month's Volunteer
of the month.
6. Recreation Manager's Report -Steve Benoit
Recreation Manager, Steve Benoit shared that the Single Track Attack Mountain Bike
Race was held on July 18`", with approximately 1,000 people in attendance.
Mr. Benoit shared the Senior Centex and Ice Arena monthly report.

Commissioner Jakex asked what kind of outreach effort the Parks and Recreation staff
currently follows.
Mx. Benoit shared that majority of registrations are taken on-line and using social media
sites such as Facebook has been successful in addressing new trends in marketing.
Commissioner Jakex shared he the department was doing a great job and to remember
to keep a variety of venues for marketing all the programs.
Information/Update Items
7.1. Community Events
Recreation Manager, Steve Benoit showcased a video of summer recreation programs
and shared that September will be National Senior Centex Month.
7.2. Paxk Hiehli¢hts
Planner/Park Planner, Chris Leeseberg discussed that the city has many gardens that are
maintained and axe available for adoption.
7.3. Adopt-A-Park Update
Planner/Park Planner, Chris Leeseberg discussed that the city is interested in fmding
volunteers to adopt the garden(s) as part of the Adopt-A-Paxk program.
8. Citv Council/Planning Commission Review/Updates -None
Other Business
Commissioner Anderson shared that a new city engineer was hired and will be spear-
heading the issues regarding the Great Northern Trail.
