SUBJECT: Name the Arena Contest
The Elk River Ice Arena Commission has met twice and is scheduled to meet
again for a walk through of the new facility on June 3, 1997. Councilmember
Larry Farber is the City Council representative on the Commission and can
update the Council on the recent meetings.
One of the business items that the Commission has discussed is a contest to
help name the ice arena complex, along with the old and new rinks. The
Commission felt that this would be a positive way to get part of the
community involved with the arena and that a new name may help in its
identification as a city facility. The contest is offering three cash prizes of
$25 each for the individuals submitting the winning names.
Recommended Action
It is recommended that the City Council approve a motion authorizing the
"Name the Arena" Contest.
