Department Updates
The property owner of Bailey Point has approached the Ciry to determine if the City has
interest in purchasing the property with the intent of adding a park to the system. The
Council will continue to discuss Bailey Point in upcoming meetings.
Recently the Commission was informed regarding a drainage issue at Rivers Edge Commons
Park. During Larger rain events the storm water that runs down the alley along the side of
the park is not collected into the existing catch basins located at the bottom of the hill. The
storm water in these larger rain events overtops the pedestrian ramp near the pavilion and
washes through the mulch and pavilion before cascading down the river bank. This
continual occurrence has caused some erosion issues down the bank from the pavilion and it
also creates the need to fix the washed out mulch and plantings after every heavy rain. To
remedy the issue work recently began to install a trench drain in the alley to collect and
reroute the drainage. .

SUBJECT: Parks and Recreation Director Update
As most of you know, our parks and recreation director candidate Michelle Olson declined
to accept the position due to an unexpected personal siruation that came up following the
interviews. At the November 1 City Council meeting, the Council decided that the position
would be re-opened and directed staff to place this item on the January 10 Council work
session agenda for further discussion. At that meeting the Council intends to finalize the
recruitment and selection process before advertising the position opening.
