09-25-2001 LIB MINELK RIVER LIBRARY BOARD MINUTES September 25, 2001 Eleanor Holm, Chair present Leslie Anderson, Vice Chair present Geraldine Graham, Secretary present joannejacobs absent Also present: Mick Stoffers, Librarian Vern Oleksowicz, GRRL Meeting was called to order at 6:40pm by Eleanor Holm. It was determined that a Quorum was present. Action re: Minutes of August 28, 2001 meeting: A motion was made by Graham and seconded by Holm to approve minutes of August 28, 2001 meeting. Approved unanimously. Correspondence: None. There were no suggestions from the public suggestion box. Treasurer's Report of September 5, 2001: A motion was made by Anderson, seconded by Holm to approve Treasurer's Report of September 5, 2001. Approved unanimously. Librarian's report by Mick Stoffers: Old Business: An updated list of Library Board members was distributed. Prep work has started on the exterior painting job. Steve Greene expects to finish the work within a week, depending on weather conditions. We've requested that Andy's Electric install motion detectors, however a date has not been set for the work to be done. When the librarian asked the company for a date, they were unable to say when, just that the library is on its list of projects to be completed. Yard maintenance projects: the dead tree has been removed, with the stump still remaining to be removed. The damaged light pole has been removed and is being repaired. The summer reading sign has not yet been removed. New Business: The librarian has learned that timing is appropriate to submit a request for funding from the American Legion. She has filled out the application forms and will seek funds for the Pac tables (for two new computer terminals) that the library needs. The American Legion has also ordered a new American flag for the library. Oleksowicz reported that GRRL is investigating ways to add word processing software for the public's use to GRRL's overall software system. All GRRL branch libraries receive requests from the public for word processing. If this new service becomes available in the future, the Elk River library will have the public use the computers currently available for Internet. GRRL continues to search for a new director. Interviews are scheduled for November and a new director is expected to begin in January. Next meeting is October 23, 2001. Meeting adjourned at 7:OOpm. Respectfully submitted, Geraldine Graham, Secretary
