Treasurer's Report of)uly 31, 2001: A motion was made by Graham, seconded by Anderson to approve Treasurer's Report of July 31, 2001. Approved unanimously. Librarian's report by Mick Stoffers: Old Business: Re: Painting of exterior trim -Stoffers has again called Steve Greene to secure a date for him to start this project, but was unable to reach him. The board expressed concern that the painting season is almost gone and that if Greene cannot be reached soon, an alternate painter should be contacted. Re: Motion detectors - Andy's Electric had told us that the library was on its schedule, but Stoffers has had no contact yet. She will re-contact them to confirm a date for this work to be done. Re: Open position on Board -Stoffers received a written letter from Hangaard confirming his verbal resignation from the Board. This open position will be advertised in the City Newsletter. Stoffers encouraged all Board members to recruit potential members. New Business: The Reader-Printer -The print cartridge has been used up, and Stoffers has ordered a replacement, which costs approx. $150. She will check the availability of generic brand cartridges which may be less expensive. Graham suggested Stoffers double check the reader-printer's manual or talk with a customer service rep about whether a generic cartridge is recommended. With computer printers, some generic brand cartridges gum up the print head. Library Grounds Upkeep -Stoffers received a complaint from one of the library's neighbors that weeds from the library grounds were spreading into the neighbor's yard. Stoffers will call Public Works to request weed spraying. The Board expressed concerns that this spraying should be done as soon as possible, because maintaining good rapport with neighbors is a top priority. Holm inquired if the dead tree on library grounds had been removed yet, and Stoffers said it had not. Board discussion also indicated this to be a high priority, due to safety concerns if a storm should topple the dead tree. Stoffers also reported that another light in the parking lot is damaged and could fall. Stoffers will call Public Works and request these grounds-keeping projects to be given a high priority. Pac Tables: Because we have not had any luck finding two Pac Tables compatible with the library's existing Pac Tables, Stoffers suggested we use two study tables temporarily so that GRRL can install the two additional computer terminals waiting for the Elk River Library. With school starting, there will be heavy demand for the on-line catalog; also, if Elk River does not use this computer equipment soon, it will be allocated to a different library. The Board agreed that study tables should be used for the time being. Stoffers will seek a vendor at the upcoming MLA Conference for permanent Pac Tables. MLA Conference: Anderson and Holm asked that Stoffers send in registration forms for them to attend the upcoming conference on October 10-12, 2001. Stoffers said the registrations will be sent before September 17, the deadline for a discounted fee. Next meeting is September 25, 2001. Meeting adjourned at 7:20pm. Respectfully submitted, Ge aldine Graham, Secretary
