January 21, 1997
Board Members:

Also present: Mick Stoffers, Librarian
Meeting was called to order at 7:05 by Chair McNair.
Minutes were approved as presented.
Election of officers for 1997:

Librarian's Report:
Mick shared new GRRL brochure with board. This was well received
by everyone as a concise, information-packed brochure.
Mick will check with Vern about new magnets with our new
library hours.
oid Business:
After review and discussion of the revised by-laws Elly moved
to adopt them with a second by Mary. All in favor.
New Business:
Secretary will write thank you notes to Ruth Kamena ($100.00)
and Mrs. Kurt Pollack ($35.00) for donations in memory of
Dorothy Longfellow.
We have added another garbage container at a cost of $10.00
to help handle the amount of garbage collected from the library.
The Elk River Library is now "hooked ,up" to the Internet with
fu~<>th~ee stations currently in use.~'+ Mary moved to add 8MB of
memory to Acer Aspire and a network card to handle network
demand. Eleanor seconded. All in favor. At present Internet
is used mainly for staff training but will be accessible to the
public in the future. Mick reported that if our library can
contribute $1800.00 GRRL will provide $1400.00 for public
use of the Internet.
Mick gave each board member a calendar from the City of
Elk River.
Board reviewed the Annual Report prepared by librarian and
discussed attending the city council meeting when it is
presented.
