Meeting was called to order at 6:30 by Chair Murray McNair.
There was no meeting in September as there was no quorum.
Mary moved approval of the August 20, 1996 meeting as presented.
Linda seconded. All in favor.
There was no correspondence. suggestion box.
Elly moved approval of the September and October bill lists.
Mary seconded. All in favor.
Librarian's Report:
Mick has not heard back from Elk River Utilities regarding the
ordering of new heads for the lights in the parking lot. Murray
will call Elk River Utilities and follow up on this.
Mick is still waiting for Weatherly Electric to fix the outside
sign. Only half the sign lights up.
The mini blinds have been installed in the staff lounge. They
are very nice and very much appreciated by staff.
The new blinds for the community room have not been installed.
Mick will check on the cost and the possiblity of cutting down
the existing blinds and using them in the reading area on the
east side of the library. The Friends of the Library are working
on curtains for the bottom of the windows in the community
room.
The roofing project is underway and is to take about two weeks.
So far the project has been noisy and smelly. There have been
few complaints.
Cliff Skogstad with the city has reviewed our current furnace
maintenance contract with York. He suggested we switch to B & D
Plumbing & Heating of St. Michael. They will do fall and
spring maintenance, including changing of filters, for $1,200
per year. Our current arrangement with York costs $896.74 each
quarter. It was the consensus of the board to cancel our
contract with York and enter into a new contract with B & D
Plumbing & Heating.
The board reviewed the By-Laws of the Library Board and decided
to continue the review at the next meeting.
