Meeting was called to order by Chair Murray McNair at 6:30 p.m.
Minutes from the May meeting were approved, as well as the bill list. It was noted
that the utility bill was higher than usual, and Mick assumes that it was an
estimated bill. The other possibility is that the pneumatic controls are not working
in a coordinated manner and the front of the building is warmer, making the back
work harder, but then get too cold. Murray will call Rick to check on this.
Correspondence consisted of a brochure from the Chamber of Commerce inviting
any members to their conference.
Mick has been checking on the parking lot lights. The timer needs to be replaced.
The estimate is $350. It is in a box with two other timers and we discussed the
possibility that it would be wise to replace all three, since they are all original
equipment from when the building was first erected. Mick will check into the price.
The reading area is very sunny and warm, and needs a shade to shut out some heat
in the summer. We approved the expenditure, up to $200, and Mick will look into
getting this.
The budget must be presented to the City, and Mick and Ellie will go. It was
decided to ask for all remaining items on the Wish List, for tables in the main
library at $2,858, sofas and end table at $3,170, and listening station chairs at
$1,908. It was also noted that the utility budget must be increased for next year,
due to the addition.
The Eagles donated $500 for large print books, and Marsha will send a thank you.
Verne updated us on the closing of the Legislature, and said that even though there
were cuts, they were not as deep as they could have been.
Respectfully submitted,
Marsha O'Brien
