SUBJECT: WEST PI20PEI2TY LINE FENCE
IMPROVEMENTS
A recent citizen complaint led to City Council directive that the Stx•eet/Park
. department replace the broken wood posts that support the chain link fence
on the west property line of• the Library. After a close inspection of the area,
my staff would ]ihe t;o propose the following improvements:
Remove I.bc existing fence, bushes and sod on the west side of the
parking lot, leaving the lilacs, however, and then re-installing
landscape edging, new bushes, some type of stone mulch, concrete car
stops and the existing fence fabric with new steel posts and top rail.
The benefits that. ~~~e hope to accomplish include a more stable fence, a more
pleasing landscape, and less maintenance required for weed trimming.
The costs are estimated to be:

Landscape rock 250
Landscape plants 250
Irrigation repairs 200
All labor to re~nuvc the existing fence, sod, and plants, and install edging,
stone mulch, plant materials, and irrigation would be supplied by the City
Street/Park depar(auent.
