SUBJECT: ANNUAL FIRE DEPARTMENT OPEN
HOUSE AND STREET DANCE
The Elk River Fire Department is planning to host and open house and street
dance on Saturday, September 20, 1997.
The open house will be the same format as previous years, demonstrations of
rescue tools, fire suppression equipment, fire trucks, the North Suburban
Mutual Aid "Smoke House", antique fire truck rides, etc. This has always been a
good public relations tool for the fire department. The open house is tentatively
scheduled for 1:00 p.m.- 5:00 p.m. Pop and popcorn will be given away during
the open house.
The street dance will begin at approximately 7:30 p.m. and end at approximately
11:30 p.m.
The Lions Club will be selling beer and setups after 6:30 p.m., the Lions Club
will be responsible for obtaining a liquor license.
The evening will consist of entertainment by the "White Side Walls", they will be
running the dance. Several food vendors will be selling food the whole day.
For the safety of the patrons at this dance, we are requesting that 4th Street be
closed between Jackson Avenue and King Avenue from 4th Street to 5th Street
between 6:00 p.m. and midnight. The Fire Department will provide the proper
barricades as per Phil Hals.
We will be in contact with the Elk River Police Department for security of this
event.
This street dance will be funded entirely by donations from non-profit
organizations, as well as a raffle. The City of Elk River will not encounter any
expenses with this event.
