SUBJECT: Update on Vision and Goals
You may have not heard much about visioning and goals in the last couple of weeks, but let
me assure you that implementation effort continues in full force at the staff level. We axe
making progress on developing action steps for Council review. We are eager to get action
steps in place and implement them to begin to see tangible results.
City management staff including department heads and division managers met on
Wednesday to formulate action steps for each of the four goals. There were many really
good ideas and several themes that came out of the discussion. Quite a few of the action
steps were overlapping in that they would contribute to success in more than one goal.
Currently, the action step ideas (a hundred or so of them) are being compiled and reviewed
before being presented to the Council. Each of the City's commissions and boards was also
asked to identify actions their board felt would assist in achieving the goals. Those will be
included with staffls when the action steps are presented to the Council.
Finally, I was in contact with facilitator Jermaine Davis' office today to schedule afollow-up
session with him as a check in on our progress. I will be working with the Council to
finalize a meeting time with Mx. Davis within the next few months.
