Consider Resolution to Modify Economic Development
Authority (EDA) Enabling Resolution REVIEWED BY
ACTION REQUESTED
Consider Resolution modifying EDA enabling resolution to change the composition of the EDA.
BACKGROUND/DISCUSSION
The current EDA enabling resolution requires the Mayor to serve as an EDA. commissioner along with
three Councilmembers and three residents. Mayor Dietz has requested that he remain on the Utilities
Commission and not serve as a member of the EDA. In order to accomplish this, the City Council
would need to adopt a resolution modifying the membership of the EDA.
The attached resolution, if adopted, changes the composition of the Authority to include four council
members instead of the Mayor and three council members. This allows both the Mayor and Vice Mayor
to serve as commissioners of the EDA and guarantees that at a minimum one of them will be on the
EDA. Three residents of the City of Elk River who are not members of the City Council will continue to
fill the remaining three commission seats.
