SIMONET DRIVE IMPROVEMENT
GEOMETRIC LAYOUT APPROVAL
Dear Mr. Klaers:
As part of the MnDOT process for constructing the left turn on westbound Trunk Highway
10 at Simonet Drive, MnDOT requires that the City approve the geometric layout. A
reduced copy of the geometric layout is attached. This could be considered the preliminary
design. The geometric layout details a lot of the specific information that will be addressed
in the detailed design. This layout has been reviewed and approved by MnDOT and, as I
indicated at the CIP meeting, we are almost complete with the detailed plans and
specifications. In fact, 90% complete plans have been submitted to MnDOT for review.
At this point, approval of the geometric layout could almost be considered a housekeeping
item. The attached resolution is in a MnDOT standard format. We do not anticipate any
local cost associated with the Simonet Drive improvement. We would recommend adoption
of this resolution.

RESOLUTION 97-
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF ELK RIVER
A RESOLUTION APPROVING THE GEOMETRIC LAYOUT OF THE
LEFT TURN IMPROVEMENT LOCATED AT
SIMONET DRIVE AND TRUNK HIGHWAY 10
WHEREAS,
the Commissioner of the Department of Transportation has prepared a preliminary
layout for the improvement of a part of Trunk Highway 10 within the corporate
limits of the City of Elk River from the Bridge over the Elk River to 150 meters
east and seeks the approval thereof; and
WHEREAS,
said preliminary layouts are on file in the Office of the Department of
Transportation, Saint Paul, Minnesota being marked, labeled, and identified as
Layout 1, S.P. 7102-88-40 (TH 10), Simonet Drive from Bridge No. 5955 to
Xenia Avenue; and
WHEREAS,
the City of Elk River would be required to enter into a cooperative agreement with
the state to participate in the local costs associated with this project as outlined in
MnDOT's "Procedures for Cooperative Construction Projects with Municipalities"
(Highways No. 85-1-P-iA), which was issued March 5, 1986.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Elk River,
Minnesota:
That said preliminary layouts for the improvement of said Trunk Highway within the
corporate limits be and hereby approved, and the City agrees to participate in costs
associated with this project as set forth in the Minnesota Department of Transportation
"Procedures for Cooperative Construction Projects with Municipalities."
