CHANGE ORDER NO. 1
Dear Council Members:
Attached for your consideration is Change Order No. 1 to the Joplin Street/TH 10 Signalization
project. This proposed change order consists of two items. One is a change to the wiring of the
warning flasher that is part of the signal system. This change in the wiring configuration was
requested by MnDOT. The second component of the change order is to add an Emergency
Vehicle Preemption (EVP) system to the signal installation. This is a system that will allow
emergency vehicles with emitters to change the signal to a green phase as they approach so they
will not have to cross the intersection under a red condition.
The total change order is in the amount of $5,118.30. Approximately $4,500 is the cost of the EVP
system and the remaining cost is for the change in the wiring. According to the Cooperative
Agreement with MnDOT concerning this signal installation, they should participate in half of the cost
associated with this change order. Once approved by the City, we will forward a copy to MnDOT
for their information.
If you have any questions regarding this issue, I will be in attendance at your June 16, 1997, City
Council meeting.
