Consider Initiating Ordinance
Amendment Regarding Maximum
Width of Driveways
Overview
Recently staff has been receiving a number of calls from builders asking if
the city has a maximum residential driveway width. Currently the city does
have maximum driveway widths for commercial and industrial approaches,
however, makes no reference to residential. If the Council would like to
initiate an ordinance amendment regarding this issue, staff would contact
various cities to assess their standards regarding this issue and discuss this
with the Planning Commission.
Recommendation
It is recommended the City Council consider initiating the ordinance
amendment and direct staff to research appropriate dimensions for a
residential driveway onto a public road.
