SUBJECT: Advertising Signs in City Parks
ITEM
Parks and Recreation Staff receive frequent requests from non-profit groups for permission
to locate mobile advertising signs in City Parks. The Ice Arena uses these signs to market the
Craft Fair. Orono Park is the most frequently requested location. Staff believes that these
signs detract from the aesthetics of the park and should be prohibited, and is looking for
direction from the Parks and Recreation Commission.
RECOMMENDATION
Prohibit mobile advertising signs in City of Elk River Parks. This would include City
departments as well.
ACTION REQUESTED
Recommend to City Council a policy that mobile advertising signs be prohibited in City of
Elk River Parks.
