Hot To ic(s) of the Month
We are currently working on the summer program guide which will be mailed out Apri15`h.
We've been preparing for the potential purchase of Pinewood -budgets, staffing,
equipment, improvements, etc. We have two new fitness instructors and classes are in full
swing.
Februa Programs
We offered open gyms, Weight Loss Success seminar, Girl Power, BLAST, Parent and Tot
Tumbling, Preschool Tumbling, Parent and Tot Open Playtime, Eager Elks Tumbling,
skiing trips, Cheer America, Young Americans Self Defense, skate races, dodgeball
tournament, and Skating Academy.
Special Marketing Efforts
The Business Expo takes place on the 26`h of March and we will have a booth there to
promote our programs and facilities.
Facility Use
Ice rinks were in full swing for most of the month due to the colder weather. The warming
houses are both officially closed for the season, however, there is still ice and people
continue to skate and sled.

Hot Topic(s) of the Month
The Discussion Group (led by Art Jackett) topic is "We Got There On The Train" is
finished. This group is now planning an outing to the James J Hill House in St. Paul.
The city van will be driven by a new RSVP vol (a retired bus driver). Lori Johnson said
this is ok as long as she is willing to have her driving record checked by ERPD.
Sizzling Sat 2-25. A Sat event co-sponsored by Faith in Action. They did the food,
Senior Center provided music and door prizes. # 75 attended
We are in the middle of a Travelogue Series co-sponsored with Community Ed. 7
presentations held at the Senior Center from 1-26 thru 4-6.
Started Dominoes lessons
3-16 Newcomers Coffee Hour
3-29 Healthy Living "Don't Let Osteoarthritis of the Knee Become a Pain presented by
Sherburne County Public Health. The materials for this topic are sponsored by TSN a
national company that provides free materials for qualifying senior centers throughout the
US.
3-30 /Lions Annual Pancake Dinner at the Senior Center, includes a fundraiser for the
local food shelf.
Feb/Mar Tours:
2-28 /Turtle Lake Casino Mardi Gras
3-9 /Red Hats to Silver Springs Buffet and Elvis show. Many area Red Hat groups
invited. Elk River Senior Center planned this event and asked the Monticello
Senior Center to co-sponsor.
Special Marketing Efforts
Beginning to market for the S.A.L.T Council's annual "Senior Day Out" on 5-306. The senior
center does the registration for this event. Registration forms are in the Senior Center Good
News Letter, in the Star News and other county publications and on local cable.
