Hot Topic(s) of the Month
Mold Abatement at Lions Paxk Centex -The southwest corner of the office area has mold
and is in the process of being corrected. RaeAnn and I have moved to City Hall while the
work is being done and hope to be back within the next 4-6 weeks.
Skate Patrol - we have two youth helping to remind users of the skate park to follow the
rules as posted and it seems to be helping significantly with issues that we've had in the past.
Ross has worked hard on this program with the Police Department and we axe quite pleased
with the results so fax.
Bike Rodeo - we are doing a bike rodeo on Monday, June 12`x. We haven't offered one in
years and are excited about this opportunity at Lions Park. This is a collaborative effort
between Elk River Parks and Recreation, Sherburne County, and the School District.
Junior Leader Program - we have received three applications fox Junior Leader. They axe
currently being contacted for helping this summer.
May Programs
Programs offered in May included fitness classes fox both children and adults, tumbling,
open playtime for tots, BLAST, Girl Power, Cheer America, Young Americans Self Defense,
Dog Obedience, annual Ice Show, and Skating Academy.
Special Marketing Efforts
Utility Stuffex - We are doing inserts into Elk River Municipal Utilities bills at the end of
July. The focus will be on Pinewood Golf Course.
Bank Stuffex -The Bank of Elk River will be putting stuffexs in their envelopes with
information about Entertainment in the Paxk and Art in the Paxk. They axe sponsoring Axt
in the Paxk this year and it is being offered at no charge; however, pre-xegistxadon is requited
as space is limited.
We axe also working on the fall Program Guide. This will be delivered in August.
Facility Use
We reserved 1,477 hours during the month of May.

May is Older Americans Month and Senior Center Week (5-15 thru 5-20)

Wednesday, May 17 - 11:15 AM -YMCA program rescheduled.
Thursday, May 18 -Mainstream Fashion Show 8 Shopping 1:30 PM
Friday, May 19 -Raptor Center 1 PM -Come and see an eagle, hawk, owl and falcon
demonstration. This free event is sponsored by The Elk River Area Women of Today
and the River City Bridge group.
Saturday, May 20 -Hot Potato Party 11AM - 1 PM Lunch and Music
Thursday, May 25 -Telephone Equipment Distribution Program. This program links
assistive telephone devices to eligible Minnesotans.
May 31 -Older Americans' Month Celebration at the Vintage Grill in Monticello. Older
adults from the Elk River, Monticello and Coon Rapids Senior Centers attend.
Working on Emergency Plans for Senior Center with Guardian Angels Homes and
Senior Dining. I invited Fire Chief Bruce West and Cliff Anderson to meet with our
committee.
The Boys & Girls Club is coming to the center once a week for 9 weeks this summer.
Write You Own Story / 2nd Class on 6-5 -This 2-part program has brought new
participants to the center.
Healthy Living 6-13 -Dementia vs Alzheimer's
Author Talk II 6-19 -Local author coming to speak.
City Rec Kids visiting the center on 6-29 for Bingo w Prizes & Root Beer Floats.
