STATE TRANSPORTATION IMPROVEMENT PROGRAM (STIP)
FISCAL YEARS 1998 THROUGH 2000
Dear Mr. Klaers:
Last week, I attended the Region 7W Transportation Advisory Committee (TAC) meeting. At that
meeting, we reviewed the draft State Transportation Improvement Program (STIP) for fiscal years
1998 through 2000. There are several projects included in the draft STIP that would be of interest
to the City of Elk River. The purpose of this letter is to inform you of these projects included in the
STIP.
In fiscal year 1998, which runs from July 1, 1997, to June 30, 1998, there are several projects.
They are as follows:
CSAH 12 Upgrade from County Road 13 to the Anoka County line. This project is
estimated at $355,000 with $284,000 of federal funds.
The signal at Upland Avenue and TH 10. This project is estimated in the STIP at $300,000
with $150,000 being local funds.
The left turn lane at Simonet Drive and TH 10. This project is estimated at $200,000 with
no local contribution.
The installation of continuous lighting and fencing on TH 169 from Jackson Avenue to Main
Street in Elk River. This project is estimated at $400,000 with no local contribution.
Installation of rubber surface at the railroad crossing at Jackson Street. This project is
estimated at $75,000 with $60,000 being federally funded and $15,000 being listed aS local
contribution.
There are no projects of interest to Elk River listed in fiscal year 1999. However, in fiscal year
2000, the pedestrian overpass over TH 169 in Elk River is listed. This project is estimated at
$492,000 with $393,600 being federal funds and $98,400 being local funds.
