SUBJECT: Staff Report
Hot Topic(s) of the Month
Softball has ended and we axe now starting on updating some items at Orono. The dugouts
have been installed and controllers have been ordered for the scoreboards. The light bulbs
on the scoreboards axe being changed out and new backstop nets will be put up next season.
Dugout benches and fence dressings will be ordered soon.
We had about 410 paid participants at Fright Night this year. It seemed that everyone had a
great time, people that have never experienced the Texxor Trail thought the Haunted Forest
was great, however some participants who had been through the Texxor Trail missed it.
Overall it was a huge success and the transition to Pinewood was very smooth. All of the
departments and divisions did a great job bringing this event together.

Special Marketing Efforts
We handed out flyers along with a promotional item at the F,lk River Youth Football games
as a way to market our programs this month. We will also be doing a story tune at the
library in January. Oux goal is to focus on recreation topics and we hope to be able to
continue doing this as a way of marketing at the library. We axe searching fox creative ways
to get the word out since we are no longer able to get the flyers in the schools.

Other
We are continuing to pursue additional program staff as we axe short staffed right now. We
axe also doing some rearranging of the office and supply storage to use spaces more
efficiently.
Another project we axe working on is purchasing a trailer that would have tables, chairs, and
recreational activities in it to bring to various parks fox programming and possibly to be
available fox rent to the public. Once we have all the information put together, we will be
looking for local sponsors to help fund it.
Additionally, we are updating customer files in our registration software and setting it up for
the next year. We will be exploring other registration software options over the next year to
possibly implement a change in 2008. We have had some challenges with the current system
that they have not been able to adequately address.
