MEMORANDUM
TO: Park and Recreation Commission
FROM: Michele Bergh, Recreation Manager
DATE: February I I, 2004
SUBJECT: Recreation Department Update
Cabin Fever
The second annual Cabin Fever event was held January 31". We had a variety of activities
and participation was down from last year but everyone attending seemed to really enjoy
themselves. We think cold weather and adistrict-wide basketball tournament fox grades 9
and under played key roles in attendance. We axe planning to do this again next year on the
last Saturday in January.
March and April
The Program Guide is now out fox March and April. This program guide also includes
Lions Den Summer Camp, the new adult soccer league, the new house soccer league with
TRSA and T-ball information fox summer. We have an Easter egg hunt on April 10 at
Woodland Trails, which is co-sponsored with the ERAHS National Honors Society and the
YMCA.
Newspaper Articles/Ads
We are stepping up our advertising efforts to let people know there isn't anon-resident fee
anymore and let those new users of our programs and those who maybe haven't looked to
us in a while fox services know about the various programs we offer. The Star News has
been great about doing same articles fox us.
Summer Programming
Summer programming needs to be complete by the end of February so we are hard at work
on that.
Ice Rinks
The season is scheduled to end February 16`", however with the cold weather we have
decided to try to remain open fox another week. In March, I will give the commission a
summary of the season.
