SUBJECT: Highland Road Project Update
The Highland Road watermain construction project is moving forward on
schedule. (Councilmember Farber can attest to the construction activity in
his neighborhood.) During the Council CIP worksessions, discussion of the
vertical curve in Highland Road near Jackson Road took place. It was
estimated that about I foot of material would be removed which would lower
the vertical curve and that the cost for this work would be about $22,000.
The Council requested additional information about the horizontal curve and
whether or not the road could slightly shift to the north.
In brief, it does not appear that much can be done regarding the horizontal
curve. Additionally, there is a concern that we won't get much in terms of
results with a one foot decrease in the vertical curve for the $22,000
investment. City Engineer Terry Maurer will have some pictures and
information to present to the Council at this 7/14/97 meeting.
