ACTION REQUESTED
Adopt attached resolution acknowledging contributions to the Police and Fire Departments from the
Eddy Family Foundation.
BACKGROUND/DISCUSSION
In February 2011, the Elk River Police and Fire Departments each received donations of $2,000 ($4,000
total) from the Eddy Family Foundation. The Eddy Family Foundation has been extremely gracious over
the past many years in making regular contributions to the City to help support public safety.
The Police Department's $2,000 donation will be put towards purchasing less-lethal bean-bag type
devices to be used by Patrol to help subdue potentially violent persons.
The Fire Department's $2,000 donation will be used to continue outfitting its new heavy rescue vehicle.
FINANCIAL IMPACT
Receipt of $4,000 in donations.

RESOLUTION ACKNOWLEDGING
CONTRIBUTIONS TO THE
CITY OF ELK RIVER
WHEREAS, the City of Elk River is grateful to all civic groups, organizations, and
individuals for their contributions to the community; and
WHEREAS, the City of Elk River received a $2,000 donation from the Eddy Family
Foundation with the intent it be used by the Elk River Police Department for the purchase
ofless-lethal bean-bag type devices to subdue potentially violent persons; and
WHEREAS, the City of Elk River received a $2,000 donation from the Eddy Family
Foundation with the intent it be used by the Elk River Fire Department to continue
outfitting its new heavy rescue truck; and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Elk River,
by at least a two-thirds vote, to acknowledge the support and commend the Eddy
Foundation for their donation.
Passed and adopted by the City Council of the City of Elk River this 7~' day of March 2011.
