BACKGROUND/DISCUSSION In 2007, the first Energy Expo was offered at Twin Lakes Elementary School and had over 700 people attend the event. The City of Elk River held the 2010 Energy Expo at the Elk River High School. The fifth Energy Expo will be held on March 5, 2011 from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. at the Elk River High School once again. The following items will be a part of the day's program: • Keynote speaker, Ron Schara & Raven at 10:00 a.m. in Zabee Theater following the Mayor's Welcome Address • Energy Conservation mini-workshops displays about CFL vs. LED lights, Water Conservation, Project Conserve Update, and Recycling and Organics • Exhibitors regarding sustainable and renewable energy technologies, products, and services • "Project Conserve" participants' experiences • Early Childhood Family Education (ECFE) children's activities and Community Ed Carnival games and bounce houses • Food vendors: Blink Bonnie Subs, Caribou Coffee, Dunn Bros., and Sweet Peas • Grand prize drawings for (3) energy audits and (1) Elk River Municipal Utilities Security System at the close of the day (must be a resident of Elk River or ERMU customer to win) FINANCIAL IMPACT To provide this event to the public free of charge, sponsors have been solicited. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Elk River that the donations on the attached Exhibit A are accepted in accordance with the terms prescribed by the donors.
