Summary of Clean Up Project Following
the July Ist Storm
The storm clean up took a total of 3 ½ weeks (or 600 labor hours) to complete.
In addition to the disposal of 100 truck loads of brush that was dropped off at
our site by the public, we collected over 275 truck loads of brush on our clean
up rounds.
The estimated costs are:
· Storm evaluation and emergency response $ 800.00
· Street clearing and downed tree removal 3,150.00
· Brush pick up for residents 21,175.00
· Estimated cost to burn brush that we collected 3,780.00
$28,905.00
I am encouraging Sherburne County to head up a Co-op purchase of a
mammoth size grinder for joint usage by county municipalities. In my
opinion, that would be a good use for SCORE funds.
In the future, if we are involved with picking up this volume of brush, I would
like to rent or purchase a boom truck with a clam bucket for loading. The
greatest burden for this department has been the loss of five crew members
for nearly a month in the prime construction time. It is going to be difficult
to finish all of our 1997 projects.
