SUBJECT: Update on the Earl Hohlen
Mobile Home Park
As of August 8th, the mobile home park closure process in accordance with the
State Statutes has reached its one year deadline. Therefore, the developer
from this point forward has a couple of options to consider:
The developer may continue to negotiate with each of the mobile home
park residents and close out the park privately by reaching an agreement
with each an every one of the residents within the mobile home park, or,
If any one resident within the mobile home park and the developer cannot
come to an agreement to purchase the mobile home, the notification
period and the nine month process will have to start all over again.
Staff has contacted the developers to get an update on the status of the
project. At this time, there seems to be a continued interest in trying to put
together a project; however, a lot depends on the developer's negotiations
with the residents of the mobile home park. As the Council may be aware,
the developers have indicated the cost to close the mobile home park are
higher than they had expected. Therefore, they will continue to work with
the mobile home park residents to reach some agreement to purchase the
mobile homes. No formal application has been submitted at this time,
however, staff will continue to update the Council on the progress of this
project.
