SUBJECT: Energy City Presentation, 8~25~97
The purpose of the joint meeting of the Council, HRA, EDA, and Planning
Commission is to hear an Energy City Presentation regarding the various
activities which have been undertaken through this program over the past
six months. It will also provide an opportunity for those who are members of
the Energy City Steering Committee (ACE) to be introduced to the various
committee members of the city.
There has been a substantial amount of activity that ACE has undertaken
over the past six months. These activities are primarily associated with the
Demonstration Committee and the Marketing Committee. These activities
include development of a marketing plan, construction of an energy home,
possible construction of a wind generator and landfill gas extraction, and
demonstration of a solar wall technology. ACE has also undertaken a
significant amount of discussion regarding the issues involved in wind
generation and the possibility of using wind generation as a vehicle to
market and promote Energy City. This issue will be discussed in detail at
the joint meeting.
This meeting should provide an excellent opportunity for city committee
members, including the Mayor and City Council, to address specific questions
regarding the details of the Energy City program to ACE.

SolarAttic Ridge VentilatorTM
Description of Product
The SolarAttic Ridge Ventilator is designed for
controlled ventilation of the attic. It can also be
used to collect attic heat and to redistribute this
"eat to another location. Unlike simple roof
.ans, the ridge ventilator provides a "systems
solution" to the problems encountered in attics.
It does this by using a patented custom duct
technology that allows for the even collection
of heat along its length. SolarAttic invented
and owns this new technology. Now, for the
first time in history, ventilation of the attic is no
longer a guess. The ridge ventilator eliminates
the need for roof based passive vents (holes).

Automatic Operation
The 14-900A is a fully automated system that
works as follows: The electronic control senses
the temperatures of 40°F, 70°F and 90-105°F.
When the attic peak temperature (where control
is positioned) drops to 40°F, the control senses
a winter condition which activates a humidistat.
The humidstat then vents the attic whenever the
humidity exceeds a preset (adjustable) Rh%
(typically set to 35% Rh). As an alternative, the
humidistat can be set to the on position and the
ventilator would then simply vent the attic any
time the temperature is below 40°F. When the
attic reaches 70°F, the humdistat is disengaged.
Ventilation, then, only occurs when the attic
temp exceeds 90-105 °F setting (adjustable.)
This provides you with fully automated winter
and summer ventilation.

SolarAttic Ridge Ventilators are complete with an inline blower unit (nominal 900 cfm) which is matched to a
25 foot length of custom perforated 14" non-insulated flex duct. Includes end cap and gable mounting flange.
The automatic system operates on temperature and humidity settings for year around automatic ventilation of
the attic. The manual system allows for user supplied controls. Purchaser is responsible for proper installation
and compliance with applicable codes. Optional: custom duct lengths are available. See specs on other side.
